What are the symptoms of a bad fuel line?

Usually, a bad or failing fuel hose will produce a few symptoms that can alert the driver of a potential problem.

  • Fuel odour. One of the first symptoms of a possible issue with fuel injection lines is a fuel odour coming from the vehicle.

  • Engine misfires, hard starting, and stalling.

  • Fuel leaks.

In every case, the fuel line needs replacing.

How do I extend my fuel hose?

You can just loosen them enough to slide the clamp on the hose and up beyond the end you are working on. Push the wooden dowel into the heated end of the hose to stretch it out. While the hose is softening in the water, lubricate the end of the repair fitting with dish soap

What do leak off pipes do?

The leak-off pipes link the injectors to a spill rail, which takes excess fuel back to the injection pump and then back to the tank.

They are small braided hoses that can wear over time and can introduce air into the system.

What Are Leek Off Connectors

The leak-off pipes link the injectors to a spill rail, which takes excess fuel back to the injection pump and then back to the tank.

The fuel That runs through them is on low pressure and is not always noticeable when these perish,  but they can introduce and when the engine is off.  This can cause long cranking times when starting,  attributed to the diesel draining back to the tank. On a cold start, the fuel then has to be drawn up the pipes again to the engine.

What Are Rubber Fuel Hoses

Effectively rubber tubing designed to carry diesel fule from one point to another within the confines of an engine.

Older vehicles that use rubber tubing for a fuel hose may find that they encounter a lot of fuel-line-related issues because of this effect.
